Small Businesses Who Blog See Better Marketing Results
Internet marketing company HubSpot recently surveyed more than 1,500 small businesses to find out whether or not they blog on their company websites. The survey was created in an effort to determine a link between blogging and increased site traffic. Of the companies that do blog, more than half experienced a higher number of hits on their site as a result. According to HubSpot, the businesses said they attribute the boost in traffic to the increased number of inbound links (significant for search engine optimization and site rankings). These inbound links have helped businesses increase potential leads and sales when a call-to-action is involved.

Companies that blog have significantly more indexed pages; the more linked pages on a site, the more chances a company has of being located by search engines and increasing client visibility. Read more survey results.

Half of NYC’s Funding is Going to Internet Firms

According to statistics recently published by ChubbyBrain, NYCbased venture capital firms are most interested in Silicon Alley. Of all the funding that stayed in the area in the first half of 2009, 55% went to Internet companies. While NY VC may love the Internet realm, they are not investing in New York businesses in general. This year, NYC-based start-ups received only 10% of NYC-based VC funds.
